Week of May 9th

        This is the debut week of this feature so let me give you the rundown. The plan is for me to scrounge the internet looking for the latest and most jaw-dropping news in the world of movies and then sum it up for you here at the end of each week. We begin with a week full of the kind of small but interesting tidbits that I hope will be the staple of this new feature.

• Hot Lohan Action - After a shooting schedule change forced Mission: Impossible 3 star Scarlett Johannson to drop out of the production, there is talk of "It-Girl" Lindsay Lohan coming in to pinch hit. Man, if Tom Cruise weren't gay, he'd be the luckiest man alive.

• Altman's Latest Ensemble - Speaking of Lohan, the recently-withering starlet is one of the many A-list names in the cast of Robert Altman's latest ensemble drama A Prairie Home Companion. Her co-stars include Meryl Streep, Woody Harrelson, Jon C. Reilly, Lily Tomlin and Maya Rudolph.

• X-Men Cast Grows - Kelsey Grammer (Cheers, Frasier) has been cast as the most furry, blue and intellectual of the X-Men, Beast. Joining Grammer is Lost star Maggie Grace who will play Kitty Pryde, who walks through walls, and Guy Ritchie-regular Vinnie Jones as bad-guy Juggernaut.

• Topher vs. Spidey - That '70s Show star Topher Grace has been cast as the "second villain" in Spider-Man 3 along with Oscar-nominated Thomas Hayden Church.
